It’s also important to know that pain tends to build up over time. Most people feel relatively okay during the first couple of hours, but after 3–4 hours of continuous work, the area becomes more irritated and sensitive, and the discomfort may intensify. I always aim to make the session as smooth as possible — with breaks, a calm environment, and checking in with you regularly.
- Get a full night’s sleep.
- Eat a nutritious meal 1–2 hours before your appointment.
- Drink water and avoid alcohol or coffee 24 hours prior.
- Wear comfortable clothes with easy access to the tattoo area.
- Avoid sunburn, cuts, or irritation in the area.
- No swimming, saunas, or long showers for 10–14 days.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds.
- Do not pick or scratch the healing skin.
